The Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Crater is a protected area and a World Heritage Site located 110 miles (180 km) west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera in a near-perfect crater of a long-extinct volcano.
